Charleston Saturday and Sunday

Saturday dawned a typical fall day in the seventies, perfect for doing some touring. Joyce and I have signed up for the two planned tours with the majority of the attendees, others toured by foot, shopped or visited with friends. The tour started at 9:30 AM so after breakfast and more socializing we boarded the tour bus. Our guide was a none stop history lesson and on top of that his delivery was a hoot, that added to the fun. We finished in time to have lunch at a near by restaurant with the Dawson’s before our next tour of the WWII Aircraft carrier Yorktown.
After the touring there was time for a little socializing then change for cocktails and dinner at the restaurant High Cotton in a private room. After dinner we were treated to a talk by Ret. Admiral Bob Besal who told us about whaat a typical day was as skipper of a nuclear aircraft carrier. He also told us about a very interesting aspect of his career as a naval aviator. Bob was a fantastic after dinner speaker.
Sunday, morning it was time to fly back to Hilton Head. Rick and Cathy. of course were there at breakfast and then to make sure everyone caught the buses back to the airport. We all thanked our organizers and host Rick and Cathy Hegenberger for treating us to a great weekend, and took off for the 17 minuet flight home, which took a little longer since KHXD was at minimums but we made the approach and were home by 11:0 AM. Another great COPA weekend, thanks to two great COPA volunteers.
