West Coast Trip Sept./Oct. 2010

On Friday, September 28, Joyce and I took off for Colorado Springs, our first stop on a two- week flying trip. We took off in a drizzle, but left the rain behind by the time we were over central Indiana. We made a refueling and lunch stop in Kansas City, MO and then continued to Colorado Springs. Our mission in Colorado Springs was to check out a potential location for the Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association convention in 2011. We bucked headwinds, but arrived at 3:00 PM due to the time change and toured the facilities of the Colorado Jet Center. We then were off to the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, where we toured the property and met with the manager. Colorado Springs is a beautiful location and we were impressed with the facility that includes a golf course, and all the amenities you would expect. There are tons of things to do in the area and we wished we had allotted more time. We had dinner at the resort restaurant and very much enjoyed our stay. We met the manager for breakfast in the morning and then headed for the airport to continue west.
