A Journal, with Pictures

Houston then Home

by on Oct.14, 2010, under Happenings

We depart Sedona on Saturday, October 9 for Houston, with a stop in Roswell, NM. It’s an excellent flight with a tail wind, a hour lunch/refuel stop in Roswell, then arriving in Houston at 5:00PM local time. Clark and Julie Blackman pick us up, and we are off to their house for a quick shower. We are joined by Christine Romsdahl and her boy friend, Rob, for dinner at a South American restarurant. Very nice and productive evening at an outdoor setting on the lake. The next day after lunch at the wharf on Galveston Bay, we visit NASA Houston. The tour includes mission control, the vehicle mock up building (Shuttle and International Space Station), a Saturn Rocket (huge) as well as a NASA history exhibit. . We finish the day with dinner outdoors at the Blackmans, making it a great last night of the trip.

Monday morning we launch at 9:00 AM with a stop in Blythville, ARK and arrive back in Dayton at 4:00 PM. Our stop in Blythville is interesting in that the airport is a former SAC base (Eaker Air Force Base), with a 11,000ft. runway, pretty quite otherwise. It is a great trip crossing 13 states over two weeks. What made the trip great was a variety of interesting and beautiful places, different activities and great people.
